Dome shaped blisters in the dry paint film. blisters may contain liquid, vapour, gas or crystals. it can easily be avoided using the points below helping to maintain the finish of your boat.. It's ready for it's new paint job! we stripped the old paint job off, plus we removed the build up of all the fouling organisms which increases the drag and fuel consumption.. My plate boat is only 2 yrs old and in 3or4 spots are starting to bubble under the paint work, in one place the paint has come off and there was a white powderey substance in this area, ive cleaned it off back down to the alloy, the battery is not earthed to the boat but back to the battery,any one had this problem..
If you're refering to paint blisters then this is the result of poor paint prep or a scratch which wasn't touched up. if you're talking about the small corrosion pitting on bare aluminum, this is usually the sulphur in diesel fuel coming from the exhaust.. The paint continues to bubble as new metal is corroded away by the electrolyte. this can be only be prevented by total sealing of the two different metals from the salt water, something that is very difficult to achieve..
